Even after 40 years of taking pictures, Martin Parr manages to get excited about daily life. “I still want to stick my nose in many places,” he says.
Martin Parr is an English photographer and photojournalist. He graduated in photography from Manchester Polytechnic in 1973. His work documents the Western consumer society, often in an ironic way. His subject matter consists of groups of people and the details of everyday life such as food. Parr is known for his direct flash and large colour photographs. He is a member of the Magnum picture agency. In addition to photography, he produces films, curates exhibitions and collects various objects and photography books. Together with Gerry Badger, he has edited two volumes about the history of the photobook, and a third volume is forthcoming in 2013.
