Brief History of Photography

At the end of the 19th century, and especially between the two wars, as printing methods evolved, photography gradually found its place in publishing and, above all, in the press, and became a complete part of the printing chain. Photo reporting appears. Photography becomes the obvious medium to cover current events, local events, the event or history in progress. The war of 14-18 was a turning point, and many amateurs came back bearing witness to the carnage with clichés in the form of stereoscopic views.

Interdisciplinary Use of Photography

In the scientific field, photography still imposes itself as an objective witness, as a tool of description and as an instrument of identification. The advent of albumin paper and then of the gelatin-bromide process affirms its documentary dimension and very quickly, imposes itself as a universal, demonstrative medium, which constitutes an irreplaceable testimony to document, testify, fix, disseminate, identify and tell the social and public life.
